KER40+ Invictus Wins on First Outing
The AVEVA September Regatta held at the Royal Southern Yacht Club, was the first event for the new FAST 40 class which is gaining momentum in the UK. The recently launched McConaghy Ker 40+, INVICTUS, dominated the Regatta with four wins and a 2nd in the last race.
The FAST 40 class features high performance race yachts of lighter displacement than the IRC rule usually encourages in this size range. The parameters of this class cover overall length from 11.35m to 12.85m and a displacement to length ratio calculated as: (Displacement (kg) X 45)/LOA³ less than 110 .
The new Ker 40+ lined up against 2 GP 42’s and a new Carkeek 40 Mk2. Even though the new Ker 40+ has had very little time on the water compared to its competition, her performance was outstanding. Ker 40+ #2 is currently under construction and will be heading to Japan soon to take on a growing fleet of similar Fast 40’s including the very successful McConaghy built Botin 40 SWING (which recently won the Japan Cup), a McConaghy Built Ker 40 GUST, and a Carkeek Mk 2, amongst others.
