Viola Case

McConaghy was approached by a professional musician who wanted a custom case for their irreplaceable 100-year-old Viola, as there were no “off the shelf” cases that met their requirements. They needed the case to be as small as possible so it could be carried as hand luggage when flying, and strong enough to protect the precise instrument.

McConaghy took detailed measurements of the viola and from that hand faired a plug for the case. From this, an elegant clear-coated carbon fibre Viola case was crafted. McConaghy also integrated concealed locks and hinges to create a stunning piece of art that compliments the beauty of the Viola.
